You will encounter many errors for which you had to visit forums and seek help. But I found a way-around,I am using GS Richcopy 360. It helped me by guiding through the process, its customer care solved the errors and me, I was chilling out. I was toying with keeping DFS in play, but requiring a locally mapped LUN on a server hosting the namespace would not work well for our env. I am planning on testing what you did but so far it looks like exactly what I'm need.

Thanksinvalid.pathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07403407665254499760noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1410938844777989076.post-29817052066892908512014-07-16T11:32:16.046+01:002014-07-16T11:32:16.046+01:00Hi Rich. There ...Hi Rich. Sorry for the delay in responding.
There is an option within the replication tool (I was using the previous version of Syncovery) to replicate shares and NTFS permissions.
We had to assign the account that was performing the file migrations permissions to the filer as well as the source files/shares - We cheated and used a Domain Admin account for this which worked, unsurprisingly, very well). Let me know if you are still trying to do this or having these issues and I'll send you some more details on the profile within SFFS.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15932662668306756493noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1410938844777989076.post-41807426935507908232014-06-13T15:45:16.531+01:002014-06-13T15:45:16.531+01:00I stumbled upon your blog as our company is lookin...I stumbled upon your blog as our company is looking to migrate Windows files server shares over to a new netapp we purchased.
I am using syncovery but cannot get the software to create the CIFS shares as well. Is it possible to get more details on your setup steps?Richhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14433508877519241020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1410938844777989076.post-53596241899341639742013-09-16T16:02:52.887+01:002013-09-16T16:02:52.887+01:00The only way that I was able to identify this over...The only way that I was able to identify this over time was to add an additional IP address to our CIFS service and then move one of the aliases over to the new IP address and update DNS etc. I was then able to see which clients were connecting to the new IP and were therefore still using the old alias.

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15932662668306756493noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1410938844777989076.post-10219424103249196602013-09-16T15:53:17.535+01:002013-09-16T15:53:17.535+01:00Is it any way find out what are the shares are con...Is it any way find out what are the shares are connected using alias?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1410938844777989076.post-51651389870690097292013-09-05T08:04:37.993+01:002013-09-05T08:04:37.993+01:00Cheers!
